Bise Rinpoche is the Chairman and Founder of Tashi GephelLing Buddhist Association. He was born in Tawang, India, in 1976. In 1986, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama recognized him as the reincarnation of the 4th Bise Rinpoche. He currently holds the title of the 5th Bise Rinpoche.

Bise Rinpoche is a highly respected senior lama of Jakyung Monastery in Amdo, eastern Tibet. The name “Jakyung” was given because the geographical formation of the monastery resembles the shape of a vulture. The monastery was founded by Dharma Lord Dondrub Rinchen, one of the principal tutors of the great Je Tsongkhapa, according to a prophecy given by his own teacher, Chims Jampa Yang. Jakyung Monastery is also the monastery where the great Je Tsongkhapa, the crown jewel among the learned masters of the Snow Land, first received the vows of a novice monk.

Rinpoche entered Sera Jey Monastery, one of the colleges of Sera Monastery. In 1986, at the Great Assembly Hall of Sera Monastery, the seat of Sera Jey in exile, he received the novice monk vows from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and was given the ordained name Tenzin Gephel.

In 1997, at the Potala Palace in Dharamsala, Rinpoche received the complete vows of a fully ordained monk (དགེ་སློང) from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

From 1986 onwards, Rinpoche engaged in profound and extensive study of Buddhist scriptures, as well as the various systems of Buddhist and non-Buddhist philosophical sciences. In 2007, he successfully completed his Geshe degree in Buddhist studies. This represents an advanced level of scholarly achievement in Buddhist philosophy and studies.

In 2008, Rinpoche completed his tantric studies at Gyume Tantric College in South India. He also engaged in the practice of Hayagriva at Sera Je Monastery on numerous occasions.

From 2011 to 2014, Rinpoche served as the Khen Rinpoche of Jamyang Chokhorling Monastery in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, northeastern India, a branch monastery of Sera Je Monastery. During this period, he took primary responsibility for the monastery’s Dharma activities and religious affairs.

During his tenure, at the request of the local devotees, Rinpoche also bestowed Hayagriva empowerments and subsequent permissions. After completing his three-year term as Khenpo, he was invited in 2014 to the United States to preside over the annual grand offering ceremony held during the sacred festival commemorating Guru Pädma Sambhawa of Sera Je Monastery.

At present, Rinpoche travels throughout various parts of Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, where he continues to carry out extensive activities for the benefit of the Dharma and the Buddhist teachings.

Rinpoche often says that, among all the activities he has undertaken, the virtuous deed for which he feels the greatest joy and rejoicing is having been able to build a substantial Namgyalma Stupa. He has repeatedly expressed this as the accomplishment in which he takes the greatest delight.
