About Bise Rinpoche
Founder & Spiritual Director of Tashi Gephelling Buddhist Centre, Singapore
Early Life & Monastic Training
Bise Rinpoche was born and raised in East Tibet, in the Amdo Ja Khyung Monastery — whose name means "eagle mountain," shaped like an eagle in the landscape. This is also the monastery where the great Lama Tsong Khapa became a Novice Monk, making it a place of profound spiritual significance in the Gelug tradition.
Rinpoche entered Sera Jey Monastery in South India, one of the most prestigious monasteries in Tibetan Buddhism, and took his Novice Monk vows directly from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, who gave him the name Tenzin Gephel. He was fully ordained in 1997.
Academic & Tantric Excellence
Rinpoche dedicated over two decades to rigorous academic study of Buddhist philosophy at Sera Jey Monastery. In 2007, after 21 years of study, he graduated with a Geshe Degree — equivalent to a PhD in Buddhist Philosophy — one of the highest academic credentials in Tibetan Buddhism.
In 2008, Rinpoche completed the renowned Tantric College at Gyudmey Monastery in South India, receiving full training in the highest Tantric teachings of the Gelug tradition. He has since conducted the Hayagriva Retreat many times at Sera Jey Monastery, sharing this powerful practice with practitioners worldwide.
Abbot & Teacher
From 2011 to 2014, Rinpoche was appointed Chief Abbot of Sera Jey Branch Monastery — Jamyang Choekorling Monastery in Tawang, North India. During this time, he conducted Hayagriva Initiations and Empowerments for the public. Upon completing his three-year term, he was invited to host the prestigious Annual Sera Jey Guru Rinpoche Thousand Offerings event in the United States in 2014.
Tashi Gephelling Buddhist Centre, Singapore
Rinpoche is currently travelling across Asia — in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore — sharing Dharma teachings, conducting prayers, and serving the Buddhist community. He established Tashi Gephelling Buddhist Centre as Singapore's seat of his teachings, offering weekly prayers, special pujas, and community service for the benefit of all beings.
His vision is simple and profound: to provide a genuine sanctuary where people of all backgrounds can strive for happiness by increasing their virtues through Dharma practice.
"Tashi Gephel Ling is a place for people to strive for happiness by increasing their virtues through Dharma practice."
